Greenwood House is a story inspired by a dream I had about a house. A weird house, with one-way doors that disappeared as soon as you went through them, with windows that seemed to look out on the right place, but if you climbed through them things changed. With very modern rooms that had magic laced through the tech. With an apartment where everything was half-sized. With a floorplan that changed when you weren't looking.
I half woke up from that dream, and it was so cool that I didn't want to leave it yet, but before I fell back asleep, I thought, "Maybe I should write a story about this house. With a brother and a sister, and the Wild Hunt."
So here I am, writing a story. A story about a House, and the Family that lives there, and a pair of twins who never knew that they belong to both, and that both belong to them.
I haven't written fiction in, oh, ten or more years. I write nonfiction, and occasionally poetry. I got discouraged with my inability to plan things like plot, theme, character arcs, etc. I tended to just ramble. And rather than focus on trying to learn to do these things at a time in my life when I was very busy trying to learn to do OTHER things, I gave it up.
So I'm not at all certain I'll ever write more than a chapter of this, and maybe some snippets. But I'll give it a go, for now. I'll post this here in the hopes that having a few friends reading it will keep me accountable and writing, and so I can get at it if I'm not on my own computer.
So there.
